Nothing is better than the right answer, except the maybe...the right question. Pause a moment to think...what is the best question I could ask right now that would result in the outcome I really desire.
Instead of asking, "How was school?"...which usually gets a resounding "FINE!", followed by an eye-roll. Try asking, "What was the best thing that happened to you today?" See how your conversation changes.
