So you think you are open to feedback, but you get defensive when someone tells you something you don't want to hear. Here's a tip, TREAT it like a gift!
If someone is brave enough to give you feedback, be open to the possibility that there is a lesson to be learned. Be slow to respond. Let your guard down.
Receive feedback like it's a beautifully wrapped birthday present that you don't know what's inside. You are a little apprehensive about whether you will like it. Will it be a bunch of bananas or sushi...you don't know yet. But you do get ready to be thankful!
In fact it's rude not to thank a person for a gift, whether you liked it or not.
Say THANK YOU for feedback. Feedback is a gift.
Not everything will resonate with you, so take what fits and leave the rest.
