April is Child Abuse Prevention Month—a time to raise awareness, promote family well-being, and reaffirm our commitment to protecting children and supporting the caregivers who nurture them. At Silver Linings International, we believe that preventing abuse isn't just about intervention—it's about education, empowerment, and equipping families and professionals with the tools they need to thrive.
This week, I had the honor of speaking at the Indiana Strengthening Families Conference, where professionals from across the state gathered to share knowledge, strategies, and inspiration. The conference, hosted by the Indiana Department of Child Services, was a powerful reminder of the collaborative spirit it takes to support families and prevent harm before it happens.
My presentation focused on building resilience through trauma-informed care to support caregivers with social-emotional learning tools, drawing from the curriculum we use in our courses at Silver Linings International. Whether working with educators, service providers, or caregivers themselves, our goal remains the same: to create safe, nurturing environments where children and families can heal, grow, and succeed.
Child Abuse Prevention Month reminds us that every child deserves to grow up in a safe and supportive home—and that it takes all of us, working together, to make that vision a reality. Through professional development, community partnerships, and evidence-based programming, Silver Linings International is proud to be part of this essential movement.
Thank you to the organizers of the Indiana Strengthening Families Conference for the opportunity to share and learn, and thank you to everyone who works tirelessly to protect and uplift children and families. Let’s keep the momentum going—not just in April, but all year long.
