July is Disability Pride Month — a meaningful time to celebrate the identities, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities. At Silver Linings International, we recognize that disability is not a deficit or something to be “fixed,” but an important part of human diversity.

Disability Pride Month challenges us all to re-examine long-held assumptions, to dismantle stigma, and to amplify the voices of individuals who have historically been excluded or marginalized. We believe that true equity means honoring each person’s story, needs, and lived experiences, and working tirelessly to remove barriers — visible and invisible — that stand in the way of full participation and belonging.
This month, we invite everyone in our community to stand in solidarity with the disability community and take purposeful action:
Uplift and share stories of disability pride, strength, and empowerment
Challenge ableism wherever it shows up — in systems, policies, workplaces, and social attitudes
Support practices and policies that ensure accessibility, fairness, and dignity for all
Educate yourself and others on disability rights and the disability justice movement
At Silver Linings International, our trauma-informed approach reminds us that supervisors and leaders play a critical role in advancing disability inclusion, and is grounded in the fundamental belief that everyone deserves to be safe, supported, and valued.
Our Trauma-Informed Supervisor Course equips supervisors with practical tools to foster environments of empathy, safety, and accessibility; essential qualities for supporting employees with disabilities. Trauma-informed supervision ensures that all team members, regardless of ability, have opportunities to thrive and contribute meaningfully, free from re-traumatization or bias. Investing in these skills is vital to promoting workplace cultures where diversity is respected, celebrated, and protected.
For those living with disabilities, this also means being recognized for your resilience, honored for your wisdom, and provided equitable opportunities to lead, contribute, and thrive. To everyone in the disability community: you are seen, you are worthy, and your voices matter. Your leadership, creativity, and perseverance make our communities stronger and more compassionate.
This month and every month, we recommit to promoting accessibility, equity, and trauma-informed practices that celebrate diversity and foster true belonging for people of all abilities. Together, let’s continue building a world where no one is left behind.
